Every organism on this Earth requires food to create energy in order to live and reproduce.

Food is the fuel that keeps our bodies driving down the road. All of the energy, genetic instruction, and structural and regulating materials for your terrain come from nutrients. Simply put, food and the nutrients obtained from it are required to sustain life. Living in such extreme discordance from the natural rhythms of the Earth is one of the greatest environmental and lifestyle factors contributing to cancer-promoting imbalances in the body. In the past 250 years of human existence, we have succeeded in almost completely disconnecting from our intricate relationship to the Earth, to our own great detriment. Celebrate Earth Day this month and make an effort to remove the junk from your diet and lifestyle. In this email I will share some of my favorite resources to do just that.

April 22nd – Lose the Shoes
Earthing: An Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle

Focus Humans started wearing shoes somewhere around forty thousand years ago, and sandals were the most common footwear in most early civilizations. Soft, moccasin-like shoes were first worn by Mesopotamian mountain folk. We have since developed thick-soled shoes and—for some bizarre reason— high heels. Our feet and bodies have slowly lost their direct connection to the earth. When is the last time you slept on the ground? Walked around barefoot? For most people, the answers are not in a long time, if ever. The concept of earthing, also known as grounding, means deliberately having direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth, such as with bare feet or hands, or using various grounding devices that have been created.

Grounding has been found in studies to reduce or even prevent the four cardinal signs of inflammation following injury: redness, heat, swelling, and pain.In addition, some experts assert that the free radicals we build up throughout the day carry a positive charge, and since the Earth’s surface is negatively charged connecting to it would exert a massive antioxidant effect. (source: Pg.198 The Metabolic Approach to Cancer)
