Meet Dr. Mark Carney, ND, LAc, an internationally-renowned naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist who is ultra-passionate about helping his patients to achieve their health goals! He has been in private practice since 2001, and people consult with him both in-person and virtually. He works with a wide range of individuals of all ages, from elite athletes and everyday folks who want to optimize their vitality and performance, to those who are dealing with serious health concerns. One of Dr. Carney’s specialties is the non-toxic and holistic “biohacking of disease,” and he has dedicated more of his time to studying cancer than any other condition. Dr. Carney’s philosophy is congruent with the metabolic approach to cancer, which states that the terrain of the body can either create an inner-environment that is inhospitable to disease, or it can become a fertile ground in which disease can take hold and eventually worsen. To this end, he applies these principles in the “biohacking of cancer” with the strategies that are needed to reverse engineer this disease process. Moreover, Dr. Carney identifies the sources of what is interfering with the body’s own innate wisdom to heal itself and fully express health. His patients and colleagues often refer to him as a “medical Sherlock Holmes” because he is known for solving very complex cases. His hunger for lifelong learning led him to earning his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, completing a Post-Graduate Residency in Family Medicine, and graduating with a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. Additionally, he recently finished the pinnacle of his cancer training: a Fellowship in Integrative Oncology with Dr. Nasha Winters, whom he has known for the past 25 years, first as classmates and eventually as colleagues. Since 1996, Dr. Carney has worked with thousands of patients who have presented with dozens of different types of cancer diagnoses. For over two decades, he has regularly attended many cancer conferences, tumor boards, and oncology seminars to keep himself up-to-date in this field. Also, he recently toured several top-rated integrative oncology clinics and hospitals in Mexico and Europe, where he learned from some of the most highly respected cancer doctors in the world. Dr. Carney collaborates with oncologists and other specialists, and he recommends various adjunctive support for his patients during their chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and immunotherapy, so that these conventional therapies can be optimized without compromising their efficacy, and their side effects can be minimized. Furthermore, he knows how to use natural medicine to not only “clean up” and detoxify the body after the conventional treatments are finished, but to prevent recurrences of the original cancer, as well as to prevent secondary cancers from forming in the future. He and his wife are cofounders of High Performing Human, LLC, a unique practice that incorporates the prevention and early detection of disease, the strategies of biohacking for peak performance, and the optimization of health for the fullest expression of one’s life. High Performing Human is a holistic practice in Denver, Colorado that offers amongst the widest array of treatment options in the United States and abroad, and includes intravenous and injection therapies, hard-shelled hyperbaric oxygen chambers, ozone therapies, customized herbal formulas, mistletoe, individualized nutrition ranging from vegan to ketogenic diets and everything in between, nutritional supplementation, intermittent fasting and water-only fasting, dozens of advanced and innovative tests from cutting-edge laboratories, comprehensive detoxification programs with infrared saunas and colon hydrotherapy, low-dose Naltrexone, stem cell and exosome treatments, mind-body and environmental medicine, lifestyle/genetic/exercise counseling, and much more. Dr. Carney is a popular guest on podcasts and in the media, often presents at local and national conferences, lectures at medical schools, and speaks at corporations. He is also a medical editor, health consultant, and he and his wife have an upcoming book on how to pursue the limits of human performance. His hobbies include hiking, camping, playing piano, facilitating drum circles, cooking, and participating in men’s groups. Dr. Carney is a competitive athlete and always uses the methodologies that he knows to optimize his own health in the area of peak performance (watch him in the 1500 meter race at the Huntsman Cancer Center Senior Games in October 2020!). He lives in his native city of Denver with his wife and soulmate, Dr. Carly Letzt, their beautiful and scary-smart daughter, Davianna, and their beloved, gentle-yet-semi-neurotic rescue dog, Mylo.
